Ryan Phillips
Associate Director, Head of Supply Chain & Strategic Sourcing Precision BioSciences
Supply chain operations leader in the cell and gene therapy space, experienced across in vivo and ex vivo therapeutic modalities – allogeneic CAR T, viral vector (AAV, LVV), mRNA-LNP, and cell-based vaccines. Able to negotiate and manage contract partnerships for outsourced GMP manufacturing (CMO/CDMOs), clinical research (CROs), cold chain logistics (3PL), and critical raw materials.
Demonstrated experience establishing supply chain foundations (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver) to initiate a global Phase 1 trial of a first-in-human gene editing therapy, including strategy development for secondary packaging, global distribution, and navigating region-specific regulatory requirements.
Early-career experience in big pharma supporting startup of a greenfield vaccine manufacturing site co-sponsored by US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Contributed to seasonal influenza production planning, QC throughput improvements, flu-pandemic preparedness, and FDA Pre-Approval Inspection (PAI), culminating in the commercial launch of Flucelvax®, the world’s first cell-based flu vaccine. Capped with an international assignment focused on global ERP implementation.
Seminars
- Building partnership models that go beyond single-CDMO reliance, including how to qualify and balance primary and backup manufacturers without overextending budget or timelines
- Aligning early with CDMOs on process characterisation, PPQ strategy, batch sizing and scale-up assumptions to avoid revalidation risks and ensure readiness for rapid progression into pivotal studies
- Integrating supply chain and licensing considerations into partnership strategy, including critical raw materials, IP constraints and long-term commercial implications that are often locked in earlier than anticipated
